Feasibility Study in Kazakhstan

In May, the NACAG Secretariat visited Kazakhstan to conduct a technical feasibility study at Kazakhstan’s only nitric acid production facility in Aktau.

In addition, a technical meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Energy, KazAzot, Zhasyl Damu and the Secretariat took place in Nur-Sultan. The participants reviewed the preliminary results of the technical analysis, discussed the possibilities of support for the abatement of nitrous oxide, and agreed on further steps in cooperation within the NACAG initiative.

All participants expressed their interest in NACAG and jointly decided to continue exchanging on a possible collaboration. The NACAG Secretariat will now review the technical options for installing nitrous oxide abatement technology at the plant to determine the most suitable solution before initiating further steps to realize the project.
