Austin Powder is a chemical manufacturer, currently producing around 52,000 tons of nitric acid per year. This production results in around 130,000 tons of CO2e emissions.
Austin Powder, a leading chemical manufacturer, produces approximately 52,000 tons of nitric acid annually, which results in around 130,000 tons of CO₂ equivalent (CO₂e) emissions. Through this tender, the company seeks to procure, install, and operate a tertiary N₂O abatement system in the tail gas stream of its current production line. Under optimal conditions, the selected technology is expected to reduce CO₂e emissions by more than 120,000 tons per year.

NACAG finances the acquisition of this technology through a Grant Agreement signed with Austin Powder in July 2024.
NACAG is funding the acquisition of this technology through a Grant Agreement signed with Austin Powder in July 2024. This agreement highlights Argentina’s commitment to the NACAG initiative. The Argentine government reinforced this commitment by signing the Statement of Undertaking in May 2021, pledging to permanently reduce N₂O emissions from nitric acid production. Since then, NACAG has provided ongoing technical support to Austin Powder, including a technical feasibility assessment for the installation of N₂O abatement equipment at its nitric acid plant.
