On Friday, 29 October 2021, NACAG will present at the side event N2O: Solutions NOW at the 33rd Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol, hosted by the Institute for Governance & Sustainable Development. N2O: Solutions Now aims to provide an overview of available solutions to mitigate N2O emissions in the industrial and agricultural sectors and avenues through which the Montreal Protocol may cover N2O emissions.
The webinar will take place on Friday, 29 October 2021, at 18:00 EAT · 17:00 CEST.
You may find a description of the side event and the program under the event´s website and register here.
Participation is free of charge. During the webinar, the NACAG Secretariat will elaborate on the initiative´s goals and support mechanisms of N2O abatement technology for nitric acid producers.
The Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer was adopted in 1987 and was ratified by all 198 UN Member States. While covering nearly 100 man-made chemicals known as ozone-depleting substances, the Protocol does not refer to N2O emissions. At the same time, nitrous oxide remains one of the most important ozone-depleting substances. Increasing international action on these emissions is necessary to achieve the climate goals defined in the Paris Agreement and protect the ozone layer.
