During a five-day visit to Islamabad and Lahore, representatives of the NACAG Secretariat and the World Bank discussed the potential participation of Pakistan in the NACAG with a variety of stakeholders. Consultations with several relevant ministries were held in a fruitful atmosphere. Furthermore, in a half-day workshop with representatives of the industry and several research institutions, the Nitric Acid Climate Auctions Programme was discussed in detail.
The participants jointly confirmed their interest in the programme and agreed to investigate possibilities for further cooperation in greater depth. For this purpose, a study will be launched, which will investigate options for a long-term reduction of N2O emissions in Pakistan’s nitric acid sector.
