Following the successful tender process, the NACAG partner plant operator Sable Chemicals signs the contract with Si analytics on the procurement and installation of monitoring equipment. NACAG will cover all costs within the Grant Agreement with Sable, signed in April 2021. The contract covers the supply, installation and commissioning of monitoring equipment as well as staff training.
Si Analytics, based in South Africa, is one of the leading regional enterprises providing air monitoring solutions to industry, government and research organizations. By signing the contract, both enterprises establish regional cooperation contributing to the climate-friendly transformation of the nitric acid sector.
Sable Chemicals joined the initiative and became eligible for funding after Zimbabwean Government signed the Statement of Undertaking in March 2019, committing to the effective and permanent mitigation of nitrous oxide emissions from nitric acid production. The total mitigation potential of nitrous oxide emissions from nitric acid production in Zimbabwe is 400.000 tons of CO2 equivalent.
